I always figure up an Out The Door price I'm willing to pay including tax tag title and all their bs. That way they can finagle the numbers how ever they want with their dealer's fee, $300 doc stamp, $600 wax and seat spray gimmicks, $300 pin stripe etc that they try to tack on "after" you've agreed to a "price". I just bought a Toyota Prius Xsp after being told Toyota doesn't deal because their cars sell themselves at MSRP or above. Not to me they don't. MSRP was $32,670. I offered $28,000 OTD. He came back with $28,417. Said that's as low as he could go. I wasn't concerned as I would have rather bought one locally anyhow but, a $28,000 check brought it home. I did the same thing when I bought my SD in 2010. Don't let them intimidate you or make you feel like you're wasting their time. They're training is ongoing in the manipulation department and most of them are very good at it. I've had a handful bought out from under me but that's ok too. They're building more that need to be sold too!
