From a diesel site I visit:stock D-max, 230 000 km (143 700 mile) They think an injector went and then it when to hell from there in 15 minutes!!The turbo sucked up debris so it is cheaper to go find a complete engine rather than repair this one. Words of advise, if it starts running "funny", STOP!!!!!! This could happen to any diesel engine.

It definitely does not look cheap.

Let us know the price tag when you get it. Sorry you have to open your wallet so wide, it's never fun.

That's why I'm not brand loyal; IMO no one's produced the perfect* truck yet.

(My definition of perfect is basically 10yr/250k miles of maintenance only/zero repairs)

Glow plug breaking will cause similar damage. A friend had this happen. Ford dealer r&r a new 6.4 reman long block $13K out the door.

So $22K is rape or BS.

Very well could have been an injector, if the injector comes apart the pieces will take out the valves, piston and cylinder wall right?.

Complete Diesel replacement would be a lot of money OEM. I would just buy an engine with some miles from a salvage yard, there's thousands to choose from.
