For these types of things, the EPA REQUIRES that the DEF system intiate a shut down sequence whenever the system has been compromised by poor quality DEF... They simply will not allow a DEF system to let the truck continue to run with a DEF system that is allowing the motor to pollute, due to bad DEF... This applies to ALL brands equally. So saying that it can't happen to my Ford (thump chest here) is a foolish statement.
Now let me ask you something since you seem to be the expert on DEF...does DEF switch from good to bad overnight or does it slowly degrade? Is it possible one manufacturer has a sensor that is more sensitive to a certain degree of degraded DEF than another?
