DEF

Time to add DEF to my duramax, anyone ever use the "Supertech" DEF from Wal mart? I usually use Peak Blue DEF. Any thoughts?

  • I've used the Walmart Supertech version for the last 35,000 miles with no issue. Much less than Blue-DEF.
  • Oh god, get out the popcorn, she's gunna be a doozie. :)

OP I have used peak blue often and also buy from truck stops.

    Really????

"Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is an emissions control liquid required by modern diesel engines. It is injected into the exhaust stream. DEF is never added to diesel fuel. It is a non-hazardous solution of 32.5 percent urea in 67.5 percent de-ionized water."

    And urea is

a soluble weakly basic nitrogenous compound CO(NH2)2 that is the chief solid component of mammalian urine and an end product of protein decomposition, is synthesized from carbon dioxide and ammonia, and is used especially in synthesis (as of resins and plastics) and in fertilizers and animal rations

    According to Merriam Webster.
  • My guess is that it's Blue DEF in a slightly cheaper package. No box but the same pour spout..I used it, no problems. It says it meets all manufacturers requirements. If it doesn't you can go after them..
