The real issue is the ignorance of the consumer. They want multiple slides, fancy interiors, bigger the better and don't peel the onion back when making such a large financial commitment.
I don't see it ending. The giants like Thor know they can push the envelope. They don't care and laugh all the way to the bank. Don't blame the assembler, its the industry.
In 4 pages of discussion on this topic this is the most succinct. Workers in any industry will only do as much as is required of them, it's the leadership that dictates what those requirements are, and as long as the industry keeps pumping out product at the current rate that leadership has no incentive whatsoever to make any changes to improve overall quality of the product. By purchasing these "just adequate" products because we always want to purchase at the lowest possible cost we are our own worst enemy. You want to blame anyone for this just look in the mirror. :R
