BTDT...with motor homes...brother is working for a Goshen, In company right now towing trailers...this is a tough way to make a dollar. You need to know all the little tricks to milk every dollar out of every run.
My brother does ok but his situation, namely where he lives, allows him to return home from pickups, deliver the next day and return home again. Without this situation, he would not continue at this job.
Deadheads will kill you. Do not buy into any companies claims to having return trips. I worked for two different companies and my brother works for a different company. All three companies are well known in the industry. Return trips for all three companies were widely scattered...you can read that as scarce. When there is a return trip, like horse trailers out of Texas, the shippers are completely aware that there are far more drivers out there that would like a return trip than there are trips...and the very low rates for these hauls are often not enough to pay for fuel...BTDT...
