Hi to all.Not sure if this is the place for this post but here goes.We are in Fl.now but April 1st we are moving to a year round campground in north New Jersey and rent a rv.I'm sure we are gonna love it. They say when we get there. Pick out a tt we want . Pick the lot we want and they will put on that lot. They will put a nice deck and shed on the lot too. $625.00 a month includes everything. We may stay year round. They also sell the used tt's.We have camped many times before and loved it. We are 67 & 66 and retired.We are really looking forward to it.Also this is a awesome forum full of great info and wonderful people.Enough for now.God Bless y'all.Bob & Dee

I just dont understand the notion of full timers sitting in one place. Whats the fun in that once you have seen the sites?

I think spending the winter in an RV in NJ would be miserable. They aren't suited to cold weather.

Sounds like an interesting retirement option. I wonder how they deal with water hook-ups in the winter. Winters in NJ can get pretty snowy and heating an RV can be very costly. For a balanced price year round, they must have it all figured out. $625 for renting an trailer and campsite and utilities, that's really not a bad deal at all.Hope it works out OK for you! (But New Jersey????).... what the attraction there. I was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ when in the Army. If it wasn't for the buses that ran into New York City (no way was I driving to NYC), it was a pretty boring part of the country to be in. Maybe all NJ isn't like that.

Welcome to the forum.

You might want to rethink the year round part. I think spending the winter in an RV in NJ would be miserable. They aren't suited to cold weather.

Are you sure. People from NJ retire in Florida. Why do you think that is? I was born and raised in NJ. I live in Southern Nevada. I don't shovel snow.

When ya live on SSI a fellow can only do so much. Cant afford to travel.
We were born and raised in north Jersey so we are use to the weather.
They turn the water off at the sites but ya can get water from the bathrooms & shower by the office.
We love camping and enjoying what nature throws yer way.
I figure if we stay all winter I'd keep the bathtub filled with water to scoop water to flush the toilet. Put film a on the windows.

While many of us like to travel, I understand those who stay in one spot for extended periods of time.

I have friends who will spend time in a certain area just to try the numerious golf courses. I have also camped in FL with folks who spent months fishing the Gulf in the winter.

If you have a spot you like, you often want to stay there for a while rather than burn $30.00 in gas a day plus canp fees.

I cannot imagine spending a winter in NJ in a TT. But I suppose people do.

You might as well rent an apartment. It will be bigger, retain heat better, and since you will not be moving anyway, will be more comfortable. That is not what RVing is about.

It sounds like a great adventure and I wish the both of you all the best. I would have an alternate plan just in case the winter gets to be too much. If the temperature gets much below freezing for any period of time, then spending it in a TT will certainly be a test. There are many people who have done it, but it seems to be a great effort just to get by. Just my .02
