Okay guys, rather than trying to make a living delivering for CW, could a person just cover his expenses, including truck payment making one delivery a month?
no...not as I see it from my previous experience and talking with my brother...Here is his advantage...and it was mine when I hauled motor homes...He lives 1/2 way between the shipper in Indiana and most of the deliveries in North and Western Ontario, Canada. He can split his trips up so he never has to sleep on the road...Canadian runs pay a bit more to begin with...He is very selective in what runs he takes...if they do not pay enough, he stays home until prices are high enough...his delivery record is perfect, he is reliable and he gets some good dispatches...he makes some money but even then, when his immaculately maintained 2000 F350 7.3 stick shift truck will need to be replaced...there will not be enough in the kitty to get a newer truck...
He uses the trailer deliveries to keep some cash flowing between construction jobs...he has said many times that he could never do it full time and make any money
