...yes...I remember the comic book days...and they still go on in the RV delivery business...the only real check and balance on log books in that business falls directly on the RV Transportation company. Federal requirements dictate that these companies collect, audit and maintain the paper log sheets for inspection by the DOT.
These companies try to make sure the paperwork they get back from drivers meets all DOT and company regulations. Many of these companies monitor, very closely, the speeds averaged on the daily log sheets. I was called in one time because the company's safety officer used a different mileage calculator than I used...I was .3 mph over the company speed limit...but when I presented my actual mileage, as computed from exit to exit on the freeways, I was actually .5 mph under the speed limit...oh yes...the comic book days live on...
