If things progress to the point where I replace my Jeep with another truck, I'd likely put a canopy on it so I could haul stuff in it without the need for towing one of my cargo trailers, or to have MORE SPACE when I do tow one of my trailers.
If I went that route, then the truck with canopy could double as a place to sleep during the milder months of the year when transporting RVs - if I wanted to make longer runs and sleep for free. I've done it before in my previous trucks prior to owning an RV. I built a platform that rested in the notches in the truck bed's sheet metal, which are there just for that purpose - two tiered loading is what GM called it when they came out with that several models ago.
Oh yeah, "what about the 5th wheel hitch" if I have a canopy? I don't need one - I can take just bumper pull trailers. There aren't many 5ers coming out of the factories where I haul from, and there's enough other drivers there to take the 5ers.
SO you haul for factories out west? I've talked to a lot people doing this and have yet to meet anyone from the west coast.
