Your dealer wasn't quite correct (Surprise...) 2007 (last body style) is when the bed sides moved higher than previous years by a few inches. Current body style (2015) should be the same as your 2007.5 in terms of bed height

OP , you should be able to do some measurements on your new truck to determine how you are going to have to set your hitch up. I know my FIL's 2003 Chevy 4X4 had like 10" of clearance between the bed and the 5er but when he went to the 2013 Chevy that space went to like 8". The bed wasn't deeper the truck just got taller.
