Desert Snow JTNP

Joshua Tree National Park yesterday morning
I'm posting this as a test.
Since it worked so well heres another, my wifes new Subaru Forester
  • I grew up down there. JT was one of my favorite climbing areas. New Years Eve circa mid 90's Ryan Campground. We had rigged top ropes all over headstone rock. After dark there must have been 100 of us out there climbing and bouldering by head lamp, drinking, smoking stinky hand rolled herbal cigarettes . The rangers sitting in their jeep in the parking lot just watching. At midnight we launched a couple of hundred sky rockets. The next day at dawn we walked out there garbage bags in hand, 50 people wide and scoured the area for any litter left behind. Rangers liked us for that

My buddy Pete on that day

Oh yeh, that's been gone for many years, Bldg. sitting empty since. I'm glad your memory is still working, if you had asked me the name, I'd never would have remembered it, but as soon as I read it, it came back. JT hasen't changed 1 bit, except the stores are different and for the hip LA people. We do have a great Farmers mkt on Sat, and still unincorperated, and that's just fine with us.
  • I envy you the location and envy your wife the Forester! Both are nice!

  • Been here 25+years experienced it more than once. It's a pretty amazing place and the snow just makes it better. Glad I could bring back a fond memory for you.
  • Back in 1977 we had a similar event. Myself and 3 friends took my Landcruiser and our XC Skis and went to Jtree. Spent the day skiing amongst the Joshua trees, quite the memory. Glad you got to experience it
