Destination trailers

This is for those of you that have a Destination trailer. I have a 2014 Wildwood Lodge 394FKDS parked on a seasonal site. My question is have any of you that own a destination trailer used it to go visit other areas of the country? Wife & I have had a seasonal site since 1993. With our other trailers once a summer we would take our trailer and travel for a week or two. Our Lodge is 40' 10" long so we would probably be limited on the campgrounds we could stay in.

  • What size of truck do you have? Hitch weight can be very high. The Ceder Creek cottage I was looking at had a hitch weight of 1835 dry. I keep a 26' TT for travel and leave the seasonal on site.
  • Your fridge and freezer should be ok traveling 8 hours and using FHU sites for overnight…
  • 40+ footer will limit you some as you posted.
Does your trailer have holding tanks? Some park models/destination trailers don't. That may be a consideration also.

Tires? old tires will need replacing, even if they, "look," good.
Sitting since 1993 (20+ years) there may be other issues.

I know I sound somewhat negative, not meaning to. Just some things to consider.

Good luck and have a good trip.
