Detroit Camper Show

Went to the show yesterday and as always there was only one Lance TC there. Didn't look at which model but the price was $41,000 OUCH! It had a side entrance an a slide on the side and one out the back. Not too shabby.

The wife and I sat on the couch in the Lance for half an hour or so and watched about 7 couples come in. The same thing happened with each couple. The man says "See Honey, this isn't so bad." The woman would glance around briefly and state in no uncertain terms, "No way! NO WAY!!!!! " Then she would storm out of the Lance. The man would then hang his head and and follow looking like a beat puppy. That was the most fun we had at the show haha.

Looked at quite a few moho's and fivers, none of which the wife really cared for. She kept stating that they were too big and that she wouldn't want to haul THAT THING around. What a great wife I have.

The only Lance that was displayed was there because the local dealer, A&S RV Sales, brought it. Lance manufactured it.
This is a dealer's show not a manufacturer's sponsored show.
  • My wife looks at fivers and large MH and say's could you imagine having to drag those things around.
  • Its good to have a great Wife. My Wife likes truck campers better than any other RV's. She drives my truck with the truck camper on and I know for sure she would never drive a larger RV. The longest trip together was 50 days in Alaska so she has a proven track record. She says the best thing is you can take a truck camper anywhere you can take your truck. To bad the show only had one camper but thats good of Lance to show up.

Is that the General RV show out at Novi?

Yup, Novi at the Surburban Collection Showplace.
  • I wanted to go to the MPLS one but had to work. Next time I guess.
  • I went to the RV show in Minneapolis at the convention center this morning and there were only 7 slide-ins. The largest group was the three from Lance including the 1172 which still amazes me with the amount of space inside that camper. Obviously you need a serious truck to haul such a box, but I was really impressed. It was along side an 800 series short bed model that looked like a closet on the 1172. There were a huge amount of 5th wheelers and normal travel trailers along with quite a few motor homes, but I was really disappointed with the limited truck campers.
