These are rear wheel bearings & seals out of a 1958 Fiat Abarth restoration project of mine. After 39K original miles and 60 years, they are in excellent condition. Except for routine replacement of the seals at their age, I'd say the bearings would be good for another 60 years. The same bearings were used under extreme racing conditions and were not known to fail. (I am replacing the bearings though since I'm doing an extensive restoration.)
These bearings & seals are similar to what we have in our TTs. So why are RV trailer bearings known for having problems & failures? I would say two major differences are the bearings out of this car were not made in China and the space inside the hub is 100% filled with grease. I replaced the bearings in our TT at 3 years old (with US-made Timken) and was surprised to find how little grease there was inside.
