- ravExplorerGood one! LOL
- rexlionExplorerMy dad grew up in the '30s, and the walk to high school was six and a half miles. Sometimes a car would come along and give him a ride, but sometimes no cars came by. Life in the country.
As a young adult he had a Model A, and he rebuilt the engine himself with oversize pistons. He loaned it to his younger brother, who tried to drive it up Pike's Peak in high gear and blew that engine. At least that's the story he always told us; I never asked his brother (my uncle) for his version.
When I was a kid, I rode the bus to school! Gotta love progress. Soon they'll fix it so all the students can telecommute (log in and learn). - Jack_Diane_FreeExplorerDad had Dodges and Pontiacs but it was ok. He was a car guy and the Dodges all had Hemis except for the 383 wedge 4bbl and a Pontiac 427. It was ok.
- BedlamModeratorWell there were a few in our family:
Ford Torino, Pinto, Bronco II, Focus and F250
Mercury Lynx
Then there were the Ford owned or partially owned:
Mazda B2200 and B2600i
Volvo S80
However, we were never a Ford only family:
Trabant, Buick, Renault, Audi, Yugo, Opel, VW, Mercedes, Saturn, Chevy, Ram - LessmoreExplorer IIGood one. My parents owned a couple of Fords. But then my dad got Chevy fever and we lived the good life after that.
- MFLNomad IIMy dad was a manager of a Ford dealership, so he always drove a Ford demo, but did not own it.
Never the less, I still had to walk 6 blocks to school, EACH WAY!!!
Jerry - TucsonJimExplorer IIDad always bought Chevys. The first accessory he added was push bars on the tail gate ;-)
- SlownsyExplorerMy dad ovned Citrons but I stil waked or rode a bike to school.no lifts in thous days, he worked.
Frank - kknowltonExplorer IIChevys until I was about 12, then Fords until I was an adult, then Chryslers. Not so much brand loyalty as dealer he liked best.
- CougarnewbieExplorerIn the late 80s or early 90s Ford went head to head with Toyota for quality. The days of "fix or repair daily" are long gone. We consumers are the better for it. I would not buy anything else.
