A Diesel engine is value only when it is cheaper to operate or performs work better . A light duty pickup is usually not tasked with heavy work and with diesel fuel prices often much more than gas it just isn’t economical here. In Europe where gasoline is often around three times as much as we pay and diesel is usually a bit less, it makes more sense for them to prefer it. As long as we can buy 400 HP pickup trucks that get close to 20 MPH and fuel them with two dolllar a gallon gasoline there isn’t much reason to pay the additional expense for a Diesel engine option.
