Diesel Exhaust Brake

Hey All,

Looking at stepping up to a new truck and a diesel for the first time. I am looking for guidance on exhaust brakes and any differences between GM, Ford and Dodge?

Thanks in advance!

  • I don't think the Ford was very strong until the last couple of years when the made some changes to the engine. Maybe 2015? As of now I think they all work well. I like the two settings the Cummins has. Towing in the Rockies, Cascades and Sierras out west it has worked really well to the point I only need to brake in situations where I'm approaching a corner and need additional slowing - just going down a grade it'll hold speed by itself. I generally use it in auto mode along with tow/haul.

Ditto and once you have one you will have reached braking nirvana
