Diesel fuel additives??

Sulfer is not ,never has been a lubricant .

You guys that think adding "lubricity" to "ULSD" is not needed in older per 07 trucks, are out of your minds. Older diesels are designed to run on standard diesel as in high sulfur content. Run your per 2007 diesel without adding some kind of lube to the fuel and you WILL be replacing your injection pump and injectors.

OP adding non-syn 2 cycle oil to your fuel will keep your diesel happy.

BTW there is not #1 or #2 diesel anymore, ULSD does have a winter blend or extra anti-gelling additives but that's it.

From all the testimonials here for various diesel additives I must congratulate their marketing genius. Making millions using fear to sell a product that has no practical use.

I use Power Service exclusively. Grey bottle until temps hit 20 degrees and stay there. Then it is white bottle till spring returns.

I don't know about any post being silly. People have questions, people have answers and some are right and some are wrong and we try to discern through constructive conversation/debate. The only silly thing I ever see on this forum is how people react to one another sometimes which borders on disrespect. But on to vehicles my truck did have fuel problems and my mechanic attribute those problems to issues of prior maintenance and fuel quality. I'm glad that you didn't have any problems with any of your trucks and wish I have had the same experience but I didn't and a little research brought up info that I thought sounded reasonable and I tried it. By the way here is Ford's response to one of the real common issue with my engine (that I also had).

LOL well,I don't use anything in any of my trucks or tractors for over 45 years of diesel ownership and have never had a pump or fuel system problem.

As has been said above, most major manufactures say not to run anything other than clean #2 diesel in their fuel systems. Cat says no additives needed so does GM and so do many others. (Most in fact from what I can tell.)

As Mower say's, and so have I many times on here, look at the MSDS. Most don't have acetone as Mower has stated, but most have either naphthalene or light machine oil or kerosene as their major ingredients along with a splash of heavy duty solvent cleaner. And I do mean a splash. Usually less than 1%. :E

Lets pull the curtain back and look into snake oil can. :B

When you decide on an additive to use, google the MSDS for it. Read the list of ingredients, then decide if you REALLY want that stuff going into your engine!
That is, if the MSDS doesn't tell you that the ingredients are "proprietary information, and will ONLY be disclosed to medical professionals"!
It is likely you will find that the additive is 95+% acetone, with a little light machine oil.
When I had an old Dodge CTD, I never used any additives, except once when cold weather caught me with summer fuel in it, and I had to add anti-gel. My son now has the truck, and it is approaching 280,000 miles on the odometer.
Use what you want, they are really pretty much the same stuff when you read the MSDS. I don't believe any additive is necessary.

I run Howes in the winter, none in the summer. DId so on my 2003 VW TDI without issue and now on my 03 Cummins. Have had no issues. All my fuel come from high volume stations as well.
