Yeah, VW is a funny company to quote, but the point is that additives do increase combustion efficiency.
Semantics of whether it is "build" heat or not, but it's not much of a stretch to think that cleaner burning is an advantage with respect to a DPF. It's not like the only time that clean burning is important is during the regen process.
The frequency of the regen is directly related to the driving type and burning of the fuel. I'm not suggesting that an additive takes the place of the regen. Instead, I'm suggesting that an additive may be able to help with burning to the extent that the DPF is cleaner longer.
