As stated above, diesels are not cheaper to maintain, they just tow better. I have a 2008 Dodge Ram with 6.7 Cummins. I got prices from the dealer for all maintenance items listed and divided the price for each by the recommended mileage interval to get a cost per mile. I then added up these 8 items cost per mile. It came to 5.7 cents per mile for routine maintenance. That's $570 for every 10,000 miles. Some of these items are big chunks but not done very often (one emission item's every 67,500 miles, but about $1,200). That is probably over twice as much as a gas truck, but will not break the bank if you are buying a $50K truck. Hope this helps. Keith
