There isn't anything *special* to know IMO. Thy take more oil - that you change less often. They are slower to warm up in the winter, especialy so when it's really cold.
The fuel filters for a Cummins are about $20, and I change mine every second oil change. Takes less than 5 minutes - literally. Here's a video
The Cummins does not use glow plugs, it uses an intake grid heater. I've never heard of one failing; but if it ever did fail, it would be a 10 minute change to swap in a new one as it is easily accessable.
No mysteries with the Cummins IMO. Just drive, and change oil & fuel filters on schedule.
