if you want a diesel ford the 7.3's are the way to go in my book..I am a cummins guy myself and have literally driven my truck till the body is falling off...biggest problem I have with my diesel is it gets stuck real easy because of the extra weight on the front tires, but for what I use it for I would need a big block gasser and that would get half the mileage...there is more costs to the maintance as the fuel filters should be changed more often and they hold more oil and coolant..I watch for sales and stock up..with a 7.3 make sure you keep the oil changed they are touchy about dirty oil..as for fuel it used to be harder to find, but it is fairly easy now and I live in BFE with probably only two dozen fuel stations in the whole county..and although most of which don't sell diesel as alot of farmers have their own tanks most vill's have one diesel pump...so if you want a diesel buy it if it has been cared for it shouldn't cost much more to own..if it has been abused it can get expensive to repair..
