It's not cost effective either to buy the Laramie, King Ranch or LTZ but people do. I see no difference in ordering a truck how you want, whether gas, diesel or loaded to the gills. They all depreciate. I bought an ST Ram 2500 CTD. Not much difference than a guy buying a gas Laramie Longhorn 2500. Both options negate each other. I just went for pulling power rather than all the bling. Same mpg empty, but I get better mpg towing heavier. That negates the extra oil and fuel filter changes.
Well said, and thats pretty much what it comes down to. Under about 15,000 lbs towing either engine will work. Some people want to spend money on pretty things like leather and sonar and fancy paint and pretty wheels, some people like to spend money on a diesel engine and manual door locks.
At the end of the day there are options for just about anyone. I am pretty minimalist. My needs consisted of power locks/windows, big enough cab for my daughter and doggies, cruise control, big enough engine for my current and foreseeable towing needs and a back up camera. Your needs may be different. Buy the truck that meets YOUR needs and fits YOUR budget.
I'm not paying your car note or fuel bills, so I will keep my mouth shut about YOUR purchase. Too many people on here are too worried about what other people are driving. Some people seem to think that unless you have a diesel that your penis is inverted and you are a horribly unsafe driver. Some people seem to think that if you drive a diesel its because you are making up for an inverted penis and have more money than brains. I just think poeple should buy a safe towing vehicle that meets their specific needs and budget. I really don't care how big or small your penis or bank account are, I just want you to tow safely and have a good time camping =)!
