Man we beat this to death on a daily basis-- to me it's really simple.
For some people and situations, diesel makes sense.
For some people and situations, gas makes sense.
(Yes, I've owned both)
Like life, one size doesn't fit all.
I'm always amazed how myopic otherwise intelligent people become over the whole diesel vs. gas thing, and it goes both ways...diesel isn't always the perfect golden choice that some make it to be, nor is it an inherent evil waiting to leave you stranded and in need of a $5000 repair that the anti-diesel crowd paints it as.
