Difference in Susp btw 2007 F250 & F350

I heard/read somewhere that the F250 and F350 have the same driveline components, brakes and sometimes even springs. Is this true?

If the springs are the same what is different about the suspension that they rate the F250 to haul less than a F350 or are they rated to haul the same?

Thanks
  • Not sure about the years but for at least some of them the only difference is the thickness of the rear axle and rear blocks.
At lot of it is influenced by the need to have a truck with a <10,000lbs rating for paperwork/licensing purposes.

You are right, but it comes down to legalities.

A F350 has an extra separate helper spring plus the multi leaf spring. Pretty sure the multi leaf spring is the same on both trucks. A F250 with the "Camper Package" has this extra spring plus a rear sway bar.
  • It really doesn't matter. On the drivers door pillar there is a sticker that lists the front and rear axle ratings. Those ratings (axles only, not GVWR nor GCVWR) are what you are legally obligated to be within (DOT reg requirement).

There is no practical way to get that sticker changed. It can be done but would be more expensive than trading trucks.
