digital gauge for engine, trans temp etc

I have a 2004 F150 TV. At one time I was thinking of putting in a performance chip...after thinking it over I decided the chip was not a good idea, for me at least. Anyway, while looking at the chips I noted that they had a digital readout that mounted on the dash and I think provided some neat info like engine temp, trans temp, etc.

Does anyone know if you can buy a plug in play digital type readout for this type of info? ( w/o a lot of wiring required )

thanks,

  • For my Expy, I had to manually add the TFT codes in the Scan Gauge II for the read-out. Once added (and doubled-checked, since it's about 40 digits), it worked great.
  • Looks like the readout is the TFT Transmission Fluid Temperature.

Click the ScanGaugeII link on the right.

$160.00 isnt bad when you consider 3 gauges, A-Pillar and installation at about $350.00.
  • +3 for the ScanGauge II; installed on my '04 Expedition. I have displayed HP, Fuel consumption, Water Temp and Tranny Temp - all working fine. Great tool.
  • Thanks for all the replies. The scan gauge 11 looks like what I am looking for if it will display all the info on my F150. I will check it out...has anyone installed one on an F150? Mine is an 04.

The edge is nice but a little pricey for what I want to do.

Elmwood bluetooth / torgue is priced right but I don't have a smart phone. My Nexus requires a wifi signal to work on internet so I am thinking it will not work with this but I will check it out.

    Scan Gauge II. :)

+1. Used one on my Tacoma and it was great. You may want to confirm your truck will be able to display trans temp before buying though...not all can.
  • I had an Edge Insight CTS and I thought it was perfect but a little pricey...
  • Go on Amazon or Ebay and look for a device called Elmwood bluetooth adapter. They are about $12. Then with a smartphone or tablet you can create your own personal display using an app called Torque which is another $5. That is one way, there may be others.
