Couple more notes...
The inconsistent behavior was probably attributed to the TT being moved and the fouled ground shifting around during movement, sometimes it would work, sometimes not after I got to the campground. Move the TT again and it may or may not work.
I highly advise testing the voltage coming from the slide switch. That is how I recognized the ~ +8V, by using the same + and ground the switch was using. But when I independently tested the +12V from the battery, I used a different ground to know the +12V was good all the way through.
I also had an area that was a junction type box area and felt some of those connection might have been fouled. I disconnected them, cleaned/greased and tightened back up... of course this was all done after I removed the battery connections so I didn't accidentally ground myself and get shocked (safety first!). Cleaning those connections did not resolve my issue but it is good to know those are nice and fresh connections now.
