Dirty Water Heater Exhausr

We packed up to come home today, and went around the trailer to find a black stresk of soot above the water heater vent and up the side of the trailer. We have never had this before. Behind the outside access door was some sooty flakes, and the diverter is black.

I have a stainless screen over the vent, so the likelyhood of something getting in is about nil. What would cause this... especially after alwsys burning clean?

Thanks.

  • AS others mentioned something is clogging the burner tubes, Spider webs, pine needles whatever?
Blow out burner with air compressor and everything should be fine.
  • We had a similar incident, two side by side soot streaks up from the grill. It probably was a large double pine needle, found lots of other around the MH. Yes, what's the chance that it would find those little holes on the side of the RV.

  • Spiders built a nest inside the burner tube. Clean the burner tube out and you should be good to go.
