Sorry the OP has problems with his new Lance 850 which bought a couple weeks ago. It's not normal by far. Things the dealer should have caught before even letting the TC leave his business but all dealers are not the same by far!
We have been in many 2012 and 2013 Lance's and have yet to see a cupboard door that didn't close properly or any poor fit and finish anywhere in the TC. Can't speak for a fridge or thermostat etc that had failed as none were in use on the lot or in the showroom. Those are purchased items and go into so many other RV brands also and if they were bad when new, it's the item's manufacturer who is responsible for any and all costs to fix with the dealer or the TC manufacturer making sure it happens. Again, the dealer should have found it before it left the business.
According to the sales person at the huge American RV and Camping World south side of Grand Rapids, MI when we and another couple (friends) were looking at new 2013 and 2014 TC's from the 3 manufacturers in mid November 2013. He STATED that their experience has been that Lance has had far less customer complaints for quality, build, or fit and finish than the other 2 truck camper lines they sell. Arctic Fox and Travel Lite with Travel Lite being the worst. Of course, Travel Lite TC's are a lot cheaper and you could certainly see it so that may be a big part of it. He said this right in front of the 4 of us adults, so it's not just my hearing of his words. A large dealer gets to see/experience so many issues or complaints as they sell so many RV units!
One REAL problem with a new RV is one problem too many! First of all, it must be a real issue or problem, not a perceived one or an agenda driven nit-pick!! I'm not meaning this towards the OP at all as he is very experienced with TC's.
We know that the 3 Lances TC we purchesed new since 1988 have never had any repairs done or needed to them and they got used a lot. Still have one of them!
