I had a Lance 815 (2008 or 09) that I had no issues with. I did not hesitate to buy a 2011 Lance 1050S. Wrong!! Going back to the dealer was a joke. Luckily a friend has helped with the issues that I couldn't handle - particularly wiring.
Some of us just get the ones put together on a bad day!
I also have a Lance 2008. Mine is a 981. Its very well put together with a minimum of defects. Ive heard lots of quality control issue stories about newer Lances. If I were to buy new again, it would be a unit off the lot not ordered. I would want to thoroughly inspect what I was buying. The best unit I saw offered new was a Chalet Ascent, comparable in size to my Lance. I almost pulled the trigger but backed off because of the hieght on the truck. I think it was over 12.5 feet. No matter, they stopped making them. The fit and finish was really good, it was quality.
My theory with Lance, I think they lost thier best workers during the recession slowdown. I bet the experianced oldtimers just retired out of the job rather than an extebnded layoff. Alot of job markets ,privite and civil service lost a huge chunck of the experianced workforce in one big purge due to the recession. The RV industry took a real economic hit for a few years there.
