Comparing a $29K MSRP base TC to a $50K TC is not even common sense! Yes, you should be "fussy" as it's your money you are spending. However, there's the apples to apples thing that comes into play too!
One TC brand you mentioned sells thousands year after year while the other sells squat. Must be a some real reasons and it sure isn't the MSRP or the out the door selling price! People aren't stupid and buy with their after tax dollars and then re-buy again! Guess what they buy again the 2nd or 3rd or 4th time? Resale values have so much to do with it also.
