Disney World Florida - Ft. Wilderness advice

I have found that DW will not tell you about discounts during the time your trying to make your reservations. You have to ask if there are any discounts during the time you are trying to book ( AAA, Fl. residents & annual passholder ) are the discounts I know of. Also, I stated in an earlier post to get a prefered site I actually meant a premium site.

Earlier post reminded me... definitely check out any AAA discounts! Our first trip we got a substantial discount by reserving through AAA. I also think AAA has some sort of "hot line" to Disney World, because when ever the AAA agent we were using needed some info about Disney she seemed to get through by phone instantly.

It's actually called http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/. It's a great resource for Fort Wilderness & WDW. We love Fort Wilderness, we try to go at least once every 1-1/2 to 2 years.

And you might even seen an alligator as I did today while fishing one of the off path canals. Still only a couple of hundred yards from one of the loops. Don't let your pets swim the canal.

I, too would like to visit the "Fort" for our 35th. Just to add a few things that Ive found out at "Fort Fiends"(not friends).....Great site, by the way. Ask about discounts for the time period you will be there. They offer 20% at times if your a AAA member, from what Ive learned, its one of the better discounts offered. Being from So Calif, we've considered buying the "Premier" annual pass which is expensive but allows unlimited access to all the Parks in Florida/Calif and includes Parking for a whole year( No Black out dates). They use to offer significant discounts with these passes at the Fort and other lodging, but it seems that's a thing of the pass. Anyways....have a Great time and have a Super 50th!!!!

Don't even consider the week before or the week after EASTER. Hopefully this is not when your anniversary is. We spent two weeks a Fort Wilderness last spring. The first was two weeks before Easter and the second was two weeks after. The weeks surrounding Easter were spent at a different (off Disney) campground, but we did return to Disney for day visits.
We made our reservations for FT Wilderness less than two weeks ahead of time, but the Easter weeks were not available.
It was night and day difference in crowds in the Theme Parks, think 20 min wait time for an attraction vs 90 minutes during Easter weeks, one day we even saw the billboard sign for Magic Kingdom saying, now full and closed to further admissions, this does not affect Disney resort guests.

All loops have there own advantages for different reasons, we prefer the 100 and 200 loops, but will be happy in any loops.

Edit added; Congratulations on your 50th anniversary, Spring of 2014 hopefully. Let a cast member know when booking your reservation and you will get a badge/button for special recognition.

I think it's great that people are willing take the time to post their experiences in these type of threads, but for the OP please do yourself a favor and search the countless threads on this forum that already exist dealing with Fort Wilderness. There's so much good information here already and will give you a lot to consider.
