DIY Bumper

We usually run with the tailgate on. Our TC fits on the truck with a few inches to spare on tailgate, but wanted 3" more inches in order to have a safer step. A few times we have almost slipped off tailgate when it's wet.

DH found an unused running board set from a 1984 Chevy. He attached one to the platform we use (need it for he TC to clear the roof of the truck).

Our Westin Truck ladder bolts right on the new bumper and now we leave the tailgate at home.

EDIT: The tan "diamond plate" you see on the platform is vinyl. It keeps the TC from sliding on the wood. It's stapled down, but it droops between the tops boards.... it works great. It's made for garage floors.
  • Just a comment. Is that really a dump valve sticking straight out of the back?
Interesting packaging. I have never noticed that before on any camper.

We don't have a black tank. That's grey water from shower only. We use a 5 gallon Thetford Curve port potty (5 gal. black, 2 gal. fresh).
