There’s something to be said for having the right tool to do a job - even if it costs more money.
Tell that to the guy in the Diesel super C that couldn't pass me in WY last year! he tried, but settled in behind me for 5 miles up the mountain! $170k and he couldn't pass $40k of V-10 truck and trailer!
It’s not a valid comparison. Prices have risen. For example, do you think if Ford still made the Excursion it would sell for $40k in 2018? I would guess at least twice that, if not more. Did you check if the rigs the same weight? Furthermore, out of fairness you should include the cost of your trailer, which would also cost a lot more today than 2007.
FWIW, my last tow vehicle was a Suburban 2500 with the 8.1. While it was a great tow vehicle, it pales as one in comparison to my Duramax powered Silverado 3500HD.
Sure it’s fair! A new diesel super C costs around $150-175k. My 16 year old V-10 X cost $36k new (paid $19k used) And the trailer was $24k. Bottom line is a new diesel Super C should be able to walk pat me uphill, but I guess not!
Since meaningless comparisons are fair game, a diesel equipped Chevy Equinox would leave you in the dust. You can get one for 26.5k.
Just out of curiosity, do you race Super C’s down mountains as well?
