Dayle1 and Shiner - You are only looking at one factor, cost of fuel. That is not the Total Cost of Ownership.
TCO also includes:
depreciation
fees & taxes
financing
fuel
insurance
maintenance
cost of money (look it up)
repairs
Once you account for ALL the factors in TOC, your results are way different. Now let's see your spreadsheet, are you can go back to the link on page one and read the results, or become a member of Vicentric and read the full report with all the supporting data first hand. Here's the Clicky to get you started.
As an ex Senior Procurement Analyst, I know what cost of money is.
As I said before, we used Vicentric data for our nation wide 500+ vehicle fleet back when we did not keep track of this info for purchase decisions. However, we dropped them once we centralized our fleet management and analyzed the data ourselves because our actual expenditures for each vehicle were no where close to their numbers.
Lastly, the quick excel I made below is total cost of ownership aside from insurance and repairs. I don't have insurance data, but it is likely not enough to make a significant different and the Cummins (like all current HD diesels) have a factory 100k miles warranty so any repairs during the 75k of the Vicentric survey would be covered.
