Because a 2500 5.7 has a lower GVWR and tow ratings along with payload ratings.
5.7=9,000 GVWR
6.4=10,000 GVWR
Base payload on a 2500 CC LB 4x4 5.7 is 2180 lbs. 6.4 is 3140 lbs.
But most that buy the 6.4L don't "need" that much payload so why get it if it doesn't make financial sense?
It's exactly why I bought the 6.4. If I didn't need the CCC the yeah a 5.7 would work.
?!?!? Huh. That does not make sense. Your previous 2500 CTD more then likely had less or the same payload as a 2018 2500 5.7L and I know it at least has enough tow rating for your 9,300 lbs trailer. What changed since then? Or did you buy the 6.4L for other reasons?
Other reasons. And yeah the CTD had a 100 lbs or so on the 5.7.
