We have a Bigfoot camper designed for a 1500 series truck on our GMC 2500HD crew cab short bed (6.5') It handle the camper well with the factory suspension but I did add an additional overload spring after a couple of years with the camper. The camper is not a real large one and the crew cab helps provide us with some extra storage. If I could have purchased a one ton SRW short bed at the time I would have gone with that but overall have been very happy with the 2500HD. When I purchased it it was a daily driver and I parked in a downtown office covered garage. I DRW would not have worked well in that garage.
