Comparing ST tires on a tandem axle trailer to tires on the four corners of a truck, is why there is a lot of controversy. Lot of difference between free rolling, and side scuffing/twisting. Most of us air down the LTs from 80 psi, when not towing, with only issues being a better ride, and better wear.
Yes, with a heavy load on the P tires, inflating to 44 psi can be a great idea.
