You can overload a DRW as well. Unless you buy a commercial class 550 or 5500, you won't know if you have enough truck. TCs can push over some DRW capacities even at their dry weight. Many of the DRW folks here are over GVWR as well especially if they are towing. They just think they aren't.
They are lot of variations, but I've been carrying 10,000 lb forklifts on my F450 flatbed.
My present F350 coming from utility body has more springs than the F450 and my camper wet is about 5000lb.
Even loading it over a foot behind the cabin makes the suspension barely sagging.
So unless I put 2000 lb tongue weight, there is no way to overload it in normal use.
