In my experience, being turned away because of your 'lower class' of RV is exceedingly rare; only once for me, and a very low key turn away at that. Watch for the keyword when talking to the proprietor on the phone. The word?
COACH.
In talking with her, she repeatedly asked how long and how new my COACH was, and full-boat hookups were the only kind of luxury accoutremont available. After all, they have a certain savoir faire to keep up.
I'm happier camping down at the end of a two-track in the woods, after fording the stream, or right on the sand at the beach, where permitted.
But, on occasion, we like to rent a nice grassy space at a private campground along the Oregon Coast for a day or two.
There is a German-theme campground in coastal OR that had OktoberFest and German food every night we were there (in June). It was a hoot.
Klaus didn't ask to see our papers.
