nip,
One word: Litigation. That's the main difference between the good-old-days and now-o-days. I read a report that outlined the whole story of a dismounted TC rolling over and crushing one or two kids playing near it in a campground. A sad day in TC town.
Some shameless might-be wisdom from jefe ( circa 1963):
"Most of the woes of the world can be directly attributed to someone not paying attention."
There are very few, in my experience, private campgrounds that say, "Oh, no. There goes the neighborhood.", when they see and hear us rattling up to the pay kiosk. If they have a space, they want to rent it. Only that long-term campground in Van Nuys, CA with the 'coach' designation. FYI, in So.Cal. there are VERY few places to rent a campsite of any kind within 40 miles of civic center. But, if you know what you are doing, there are a myriad of Stealth Camping locations.
regards, as always, jefe
