If done properly, solar will prolong the life of a wet cell. Your usage however will also be a factor. Draining a wet cell battery till its dead is way bad. I have an interstate dealer just down the street from me. I took my Interstate group 32's in to have them load tested and he came back and commented.."you have a solar panel don't you". I said yes why? Note these batteries are 6 years old, and he said they are at 90 percent and will last another 2 years or more. He said that my solar system is the entire reason that they were in such good shape. So it does pay off. Between the truck, generator and the solar they lasted this long. If something is out of the norm I would be questioning the controller. I only had to add water just a few times over that length of time and not very much at that.
