In the 30 some odd years I've been camping in truck campers and a motor home I have always driven with the propane on to run the fridge. All these years I had never concidered this might be dangerous ...

Never on when driving. If pilot flame goes out due to wind the fridge will go thru spark cycle to relight the flame. Not worth the risk to me. The last thing before driving I close the tank valve and first thing I do when stopped I open the tank valve and turn the fridge and water heater on. Doing this since 1974 and I never had to drink warm bear.
