Left on for the last ten years of travel.
The problem is when entering a gas station when the potential for trouble exists.
With the slide closed, I can't get to the fridge to turn off the fridge in the current camper.
The only danger that I can foresee is a major gasoline spill at a gas station. Even then the fridge burner is up high and gas vapors sink.
Or a major propane release in or around a stationary source would be extremely dangerous.
But just traveling down the highway? Not a problem.
