Not really floor plan related, but there's some interior design/construction details that drive me up the wall. Interior and exterior storage space is really important, esp. the shorter a trailer gets.
- why so many blank panels in cabinets that obviously have perfectly good use-able space behind? Would just need a hinged door.
- why no shelf in upper cabinets?
- in upper kitchen cabs., why do they stick blank panel on the sides so you can't get to stuff and can't see it?
- why can't they placing plumbing drain pipes under a sink so you get more use-able space? Had to relocate on our old TT and now our new one.
- why no thought as to where you need to leave shoes when you walk in? In some layouts they could easily provide a space at floor level in the rear of a dinette seat, under a kitchen cab., etc.
- why is the storage space under dinette seats so hard to get into sometimes? Can't they put in a hinged lid and make it fully use-able and not install crossmembers?
- why are bathroom cabinets laid out so poorly? Need more shelves and why can't they be adjustable?
- can't they install larger doors on pass-through storage bay so you can slide a folding chair in easily?
- can't they install a small 2nd storage compartment outside as standard item for your sewer fittings, chocks, leveling blocks, etc.? Our 29' TT only has the pass-through.
Now that I am thinking about design flaws:
- why no thought as to where you are going to put a garbage can in the kitchen? We are currently hanging a plastic bag off a knob on the range. Argh...
- where the heck to install a TP holder in the bathroom? Even if you find a vertical spot, it can be so that you have to rotate way around to reach. Common problem...
- why are kitchen counters typically so tiny, even in bigger units? Because they are designed by a male?? Can't they provide a cutting board over the cooktop/range as standard so you get a lot more counter space? Can't they place the sink and cooktop to give a bigger working space in between? A 6" counter on either side of a sink or cooktopp is useless as a working surface.
-why on earth are windows so low in RVs that force you to bend over to see out (except where there's cabinets)? Can't they raise them a foot or two so you can actually see out when standing up?? This is my pet peeve.
- yes, TV layouts are plain dumb sometimes. We have one over our dinette and you couldn't view it because the angle was too much. I had to add a tilting mount to the articulating mount to be able to see it. Seems like since an RV needs a TV, they just plunk one in any old place. I've seen some really stupid placements.
- pet peeve #2. can't they install a few wall switches for lights and fans? I hate having to reach up to the ceiling to turn a light on in a $30,000 plus TT. DW has trouble since she is height challenged.
I could go on, but you get the gist... :(
