Do you really need a corner cut mattress?

We need to upgrade the short queen mattress in our trailer. The factory one is corner cut, but it really doesn't look like it saves all that much room. Am I missing something in having to have a corner cut mattress?

Just flip the mattress end for end to check if there are clearance issues.

What he said. If the bed is in a slideout, I'd make sure the larger mattress will work when it's closed.
