Ok, now we have data- I connected the OBD gizmo to my phone and watched the temps.
From cold in the driveway driving to work it climed steadily to about 213 deg. at which point it dropped quickly to 208 then 203 where it stayed for the next 10 miles at 64 MPH.
Then there is a stretch where the speed limit increases to 70 so i got it up to 80 and the temp rose to 215 and then to 213 where it seemed to stay until i slowed down. THis is a short peice of road so it's hard to know if it was done climbing.
From 213 it dropped to 195 by the time i got to the top of the exit ramp. I entered the walmart parking lot and the temp dropped to 189.
My interpretation of all this is that the coolant is flowing fine through the radiator but the thermostat is consricted or not opening all the way.
Does that make sense?
