Dodge 47RE automatic with 2nd gear lock up

Anyone have a modified 47RE that locks up in 2nd for exhaust brake and climbing grades? 2001 or earlier
  • My DTT valve body and DTT smart controller work in this manner. DTT no longer sells their smart controller. For this to work auto magically you need mods. Using an exhaust brake on a stock 47RE is not recommended as line pressure is to low to keep the torque converter correctly locked. Development in this area is weaning away do to the age of the trucks. BD use to have devices to fool line pressure.

Call Sun Coast in Florida and talk to them.

BTW 4:10 with the auto are much better for towing. I tow at around 20,500 combined and it works well. I am at around 325HP/650T Rear Wheel. I would not be without my exhaust brake.

Hopefully this build link with work!

  • Yes, there are thousands of them out there. The mod works great assuming it was done correctly without taking any (cheap) shortcuts.
