Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel

BTW... I find it very interesting how some confuse the 5.9 and the 6.7.

The only non DEF issue was poor mileage, and several reflashes.

Well I only have 291,000 miles and still going strong.

Curious of those 2014 issues too...

The Cummins is the most reliable of the big diesels, certainly in the long run, and I don't think it's all that close when you factor in the potential injection pump issues on the Dmax and Pstroke. Plus just the simplicity of the powertrain.

The Ram may have some issues here and there I guess, although if you look at the latest JD Power VDS the Ram slots in right between the GM clones and Ford in terms of dependability. I've had mine since last spring with no issues at all, although I know that's a small sample size.

I'm on a Ram forum daily and sure there are people with problems but come one, why else do people post on forums? Along with the people posting problems there are MANY singing the praises of their trucks. It sounds like you got a bad truck but that is in the minority. The reliability of the Cummins has been generally great. I've had my Ram (gas) for over two years and it's been flawless aside from a couple recalls and software updates.

Any manufacturer can turn out good and bad products. Don't let the vocal minority make up your mind for you, OP.

I have had my 2013 for 2 years after owning 3 Fords over the last 20 years and I am very happy with it, as are most people I have spoken to. It did have a bunch of recalls but they were all taken care of quickly by my dealer. It pulls our 36' 16k lb fiver MUCH easier than our Ford 6.0L did pulling our 30' 12k fiver and gets better mileage doing so.

You really need to provide some more details as to which year you are looking at but overall they are a good solid truck.

I would not hesitate one bit, I had a 94 3500 dually, Loved it!!!

What sort of issues have you had with yours? I'm unaware of anything systemic...

I've had nothing but problems and reliability issues since buying my '14 Ram 2500. Take a look on the owner forums (ramforumz etc), no shortage of issues to read about. Wish I had looked before buying.

Really started losing faith in the truck when the dealer kept saying "no problem, I'll order the parts, we've done a bunch of those"
